If refined sugar is bad for health, then why have our taste buds developed to make it taste so good?

Sugar isn't bad for your health, in fact, you would die without sugar. That's why have developed to make it taste good. Its excess amounts of sugar that are bad for your health, and that doesn't taste good, have you ever tried eating a cup of plain sugar? It tastes horrible! But in my opinion, (I think of this as fact but have no real research to back it up) we develop a sort of tolerance to the FLAVOR of sugar, I think this tolerance is formed both physiologically (our bodies develop physical tolerances to the chemical changes in our body that result from sugar) and sociologically (Energy drinks for example are an aquired taste but we initially drink them either for the energy everyone says they give you or because everyone else seems to like them)
