Question about Narnia book?

I like having lots of characters, but do not overdo it because 10 primary characters can ge a bit confusing. As in the Wheel of Time series. Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series is an excellent example of having solid primary characters that do not overdo it. Additionally, Terry Brooks Shannara series is a perfect example of introducing many main characters via a generational method. You get to follow the lives of your characters and then their children and their children's children.
