Why did he say this??????

I was with my ex boyfriend in his car today, we were talking about driving and i said that this guy called kris took me home from work the other day as we work at the same place. I said that whilst he was driving he foot his foot down hard on the accelerator and i had to tell him to slow down. When i said it to my ex he said did he? did he put his foot down harder than i do? (for anyone that doesn't understand, im talking about putting your foot down on the accelerator whilst driving) I want to know why my ex was comparing his driving to this other guy and asking for my opinion on it?
