UK: Why is it that our media & foreign media slanders the NHS but we, the people who experience it don't?

I think my question is fairly self explanatory. The only people who complain about the British NHS are our media & foreign media (the American media been the most recent), whilst we, the British people spend our time defending it. Seems kind of strange huh?
